Memories of a Broken Museum: Ten Years of SAFE

To mark the 10th anniversary of the looting of the Baghdad Museum, I wrote this piece for the New York-based NGO Saving Antiquities for Everyone.

It was a scene of total destruction … shattered vitrines, empty shelves, damaged stone carvings. Crude hammers and other tools lay on the floor.
